Synopsis: Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA) is a serious condition that can have profound implications for an individual's health and overall quality of life. The consequences of untreated OSA extend beyond daytime sleepiness, affecting cardiovascular health, cognitive function, metabolic balance, and even psychological well-being. Unfortunately, due to varying symptom severity and a lack of awareness, OSA often remains undiagnosed or misdiagnosed. Therefore, raising awareness, promoting screening and timely diagnosis, and providing appropriate interventions are crucial in addressing this significant health problem.

In this lecture, we will review the pathophysiology, signs and symptoms, screening tools, and management recommendations for OSA in both adults and children. Oral health professionals are in a prime position to make a major impact on OSA detection as they regularly interact with patients who may exhibit its signs and symptoms.
